GALAXY FOODS HIRES DISNEY CHEF TO HEAD CULINARY SCHOOL
ORLANDO, FLORIDA (July 8, 1999) - Galaxy Foods Company (NASDAQ: GALX), makers of healthy cheese and dairy-related products, today announced the appointment of Susan Harman as Executive Chef of the Company's Veggie Culinary School which is expected to open at Galaxy's headquarters this fall. The Veggie Culinary School is designed to assist chefs and other food professionals in creating healthier menu items utilizing Galaxy's Veggie brand line of products, the leader and fastest growing line of dairy alternatives in America. Certified Executive Chef Susan Harman began her career in New York in various culinary positions including Line Cook Trainer, Assistant Kitchen Manager, and Executive Chef. From 1987 through 1992, Ms. Harman held various Sous Chef and Executive Sous Chef positions at several Disney World properties. In 1993, she was promoted to Banquet Chef at Disney's Grand Floridian Beach Resort and was instrumental in expanding the level of quality, unique food presentations and exemplary service for this $5 million operation. In 1994, Ms. Harman was promoted to Executive Chef at Disney's 1,008 room Port Orleans Resort and was responsible for food service operations as well as leading a team of Sous Chefs and ninety cast members in the culinary department. She then became Chef Specialist at Disney's EPCOT for special events involved with the development of new banquet menus and moved to the Disney Institute's "Seasons Restaurant" where she was also Chef Specialist.
Susan Harman has been awarded three silver medals and three bronze medals for her participation in numerous competitions sponsored by the Florida Restaurant Association. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Hotel/Restaurant Administration from New York Institute of Technology and was certified with Executive Chef credentials from the American Culinary Federation in 1994 and again in 1998.
