Time is one of the most valuable things you can give, because you can never get it back. It’s the best way to show someone you care, whether it’s a family member, your kids or a stranger. Here are some things you can do to spread the cheer this Holiday season, by sharing your time:
Organize a coat drive: we often forget that many people struggle to stay warm during the colder months. Ask your friends and family to donate gently used adults and kids size coats and deliver them to a local shelter.
Visit a nursing home: bring the kids and spend an afternoon playing board games, reading or simply chatting. Make your visit even more special by bringing in some treats to share, like Chocolate Chip Cookies, Cannoli Cookie Sandwiches, or these cute Eclair Bon Bons
Volunteer at a soup kitchen: these places feed the hungry all year long and are staffed by volunteer organizations. The Holidays are the perfect opportunity to donate your time to this wonderful cause.
Donate to a toy drive: have the kids pick out a few toys at the store and bring them to the closest toy drive. You will find them all over this time of year!
Invite someone to spend the Holidays with you: do you know someone who doesn’t have anywhere to go, or is spending the holidays alone? Invite them over! It’s a small gesture that can make a big difference in someone’s life.
Bring breakfast to the office: be the office hero and surprise your coworkers with some breakfast goodies: bagels with cream cheese (don’t forget to add a vegan selection of GO VEGGIE flavors!), homemade Gingerbread Donuts with Vanilla Bean Frosting, Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins, Energy Bites ,a delicious Vegetable Quiche and these elegant Rosemary Roasted Grapes and Honey Cream Cheese Crostini
Visit a children’s hospital: talk to the hospital staff and ask about activities the kids might enjoy, like bringing in a magician, painting pumpkins, decorating cupcakes, etc.
Deliver meals to families in need: many organizations prepare meals and care packages for people in need and rely on volunteers to deliver them. This is the perfect time of year to do it!
Spend some quality time with your kids: baking is a great, fun activity that most kids love. Get in the kitchen with them and prepare some easy treats like these Vegan Marbled Brownies, Red Velvet Cupcakes with Whipped Cream Cheese Frosting, Chocolate Peppermint Pinwheel Cookies, or Mummy Pumpkin Bars
